  • Secure video platform is used - you get a link before your appointment.
  • You'll need a quiet and private space with an internet connection able to sustain a video call
  • Once you get into it, therapy via video can look pretty similar to face-to-face sessions
  • Some benefits over face-to-face therapy including flexibility, comfort (you're in your own space), privacy, and often as effective.

Yes - with a valid mental health care plan (MHCP) from your GP you will be eligible for a Medicare rebate (for a clinical psychologist). If you do not have a MHCP you may be able to claim a rebate from your private health insurance extras cover, or can self-fund sessions.

  • Sessions are 50 minutes with 10 minutes allocated to administration (e.g., payment, bookings, other admin. issues)
  • Depending on how you are going, sessions usually range from weekly to monthly. This will be discussed regularly throughout treatment.
  • Treatment may be short-term and focused, or longer term depending on your needs and goals.

  • Prior to your first session, you will have completed some intake forms with background information and your current mood experiences.
  • Your first sessions will build on this initial information with further assessment of your mental health and patterns.
  • We will also explore your goals and build a plan around these.
  • You won't be interrogated, rushed, or pressured to disclose information you are not ready to.
  • You will get a feel for my approach which seeks to be honest, clear, steady, and collaborative.

  • This is a great reason to come! We will work together to identify what is going on for you and what might have brought you to sessions.
  • It's really common to feel unsure, or to flip between feeling like you know exactly what you want to discuss and having no idea.
  • It's my role to guide the process and see what comes up, regularly checking in with whether that's where you are wanting to go and if it is helpful.

  • Feeling like your psychologist is a good fit for you is one of the most important parts of therapy.
  • You can usually get an idea of whether someone will be a good fit from how they describe themselves, their therapy, and the service they offer. I find the clients who seem to find me helpful are often pretty analytical or logical in their thinking style, want someone who is direct and clear while still being warm and understanding, and can provide them with both practical strategies and space to explore.
  • Before we start working together, we will discuss my approach and whether this feels suitable for you.
  • You are always in control of whether you continue with sessions or not.

Generally this is possible, as the therapy I offer is via video. However, you cannot access a Medicare rebate outside Australia and there are some limits to which country you can be in. Contact me to discuss your situation specifically.

I request that you cancel with more than 2 business days notice, otherwise there is a cancellation fee. This can be found on the consent form you sign prior to engaging in therapy or on the Services page of this website. If you have concerns about this, please contact me.

Yes - I offer limited after hours and weekend appointments, though these cost slightly more than appointments during business hours.
